Sustainability > CHEP Joins Sedex
CHEP Europe and CHEP Americas have joined the international Supplier Ethical Data EXchange (Sedex) platform, a not-for-profit organisation committed to continuous improvement of the ethical performance of supply chains.
CHEP understands the pressure its retail and brand customers in particular are under to monitor practices such as labour standards in their supply chains. Sedex was created in 2002 by UK retailers and their suppliers to drive improvements in ethical and responsible business practices. Several key CHEP customers and retailer partners have joined Sedex, prompting CHEP EMEA and CHEP Americas to join in 2011.
Sedex connects businesses and their suppliers in sharing ethical data, by providing an online data and information system to measure and improve ethical and responsible business practices in global supply chains. This encourages a collaborative approach to, and management of, ethical and responsible business practices. This generates transparency through the provision of a secure, robust and user-friendly data exchange at a site level, focused around labour standards, health and safety, environment and business integrity. Sedex will enable CHEP to efficiently manage the ethical and responsible practices of our supply chains.
During the course of FY12, CHEP will to complete self assessment reporting for all CHEP operated plants in Europe and the Americas and share this data with its customers associated with Sedex. CHEP will then engage its supply chain partners and encourage the use of the Sedex platform to collect data across CHEP’s extended supply chain.
The Sedex program is a great opportunity for CHEP to join the growing list of companies committed to promoting ethical supply chain standards and transparency and collaborate with its customer base to pursue sustainable supply chain efficiencies.
